Fort Lauderdale Veterinary ClinicNessa, Office Manager

Nessa has been working as an Office Manager of Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac since September 2011. She is a versatile person and a great asset to our clinic. Namely, her sociability and strong administrative knowledge, enables her to communicate effectively at all staff levels, as well as manage changes and additions to the clinic. She delegates staff duties and always happy to help in different aspects of the clinic as needed. Nessa is the one you can always count on, and approach with your suggestions, compliments and complaints about the clinic policies, procedures and staff. She takes special pride that in Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac “we do if we promise, and committed to deliver excellent customer experience for our furry patients and their owners”! And this belief let us grow tremendously and gain trust of our clients, and make us a renowned Fort Lauderdale animal clinic.

Carmen Caballero, Receptionist

Born in Bronx, Carmen went to New York City Community College and Hunter College. She worked as a Real Estate Realtor for 15 years. Carmen moved to Fort Lauderdale area in 2006 to be closer to her son, daughter, and grandchildren. Carmen always loved animals and had what has been referred to as a “house zoo”, owning at the same time snakes, lizards, fifty different birds, four iguanas, massive turtles, and dogs. Nevertheless, her career change to veterinary was actually a coincidence. She met Dr.Darko seven years ago when she brought her son’s dog - Sashi, suffering from the massive infection. Dr.Darko saved Sashi’s leg, and prevented the gangrene from spreading to the rest of the body. Having worked with Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac, Florida, since 2007 in receptionist capacity, Carmen is a valuable part of our team. Clients love Carmen for her empathy and personable nature; also she remembers every fine detail and aware about ins and outs of veterinary medicine. Carmen lives with her husband Eleno and five years old Yorkshire Terrier – Simba in Tamarac, Fort Lauderdale area. Carmen’s interests outside of work, include couponing (she could actually be on “Extreme Coupon Show”!), Amish books, plants, and last but not the least, her grandchildren.

Fort Lauderdale Veterinary ClinicLauren Baron, Receptionist

Before moving to Florida in 1996, Lauren has been working in hospitality industry in large hotels in Manhattan, New York, where she polished her excellent customer service skills. From 1996 to 2009 Lauren worked with kids with disabilities, and took care of them on respite care. Since childhood petting turtles, dogs and kittens she has been a big pet lover her entire life. Moreover, Lauren always had special interest in learning and expanding her knowledge about pet care behavior, and that's how she ended up becoming a part of one of the best veterinary clinics in Fort Lauderdale area. She joined Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac as a receptionist in 2009. “I am always happy to come in to Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac. It has been 5 years now, but it doesn’t feel like a job. Mainly because of the built-up relationships and attachment I have grown towards our clients and small patients who have been coming to us for years,” she says. Lauren is a proud furry-mummy of 5 cats, 3 dogs and a bird. She is very close with her sister Ellen and her nephews Douglas and Danielle who live just 5 minutes away from her in Tamarac, Fort Lauaderdale area. She also loves reading mystery books and going to the beach.

Fort Lauderdale Veterinary ClinicVered Hograd, Head Veterinary Technician

Vered is a Head Veterinary Technician of Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac since 2013. She has been working in and out of veterinary field from wildlife to small animals for past 19 years. Vered is a graduate of Florida School of Medical Arts majoring in veterinary technology (1995-1997). In 1997 Vered has been certified as a Veterinary Technician. Since 1999 she is licensed as a State & Federal Wildlife Rehabilitator. From 1995-2004 Vered worked in Wildlife Care Center in Fort Lauderdale. From 2004-2005 she was a Hospital Director for Folke Peterson Wildlife Center in West Palm Beach. Between 2009 till 2010 Vered worked as a Hospital Manager in Key Largo Wildlife Center. Vered has a very unique personality. No matter the time of day and night, she is always available to help her co-workers and friends. Once one of her colleagues called her to ask for help because the cat has been attacked by a dog, and Vered was right there. But most of the times, people don’t even have to ask her for help, because she would volunteer herself. Yet a more humble person is hard to find. Moreover, Vered is an extremely artistic person. She loves drawing and painting. Vered even has a line of handmade animal jewelry. She is a wonderful mother of furry pets and reptiles, including turtles, lizards, cats, and Muscovy ducks. As Vered admits, she loves animals more than people. Besides being the small zoo, her Tamarac house in Broward County is also shared by a few humans: husband Tom, daughter Lian, and son Lee. Lian followed Vered’s footsteps. Since 2010 Vered acts as a Board Member of FWRA (Florida Wildlife Rehabilitators Association).

Fort Lauderdale Veterinary ClinicJuan Padriza, Veterinary Technician

Juan joined Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac in December 2009. He is a final year student of Broward College majoring in Biological Sciences. Juan is extremely compassionate with patients, and truly gifted with animals. Giving hope and saving lives is what makes veterinary special for Juan. Juan has a beautiful small mix maltese Sofia that he is very much fond of. He does love animals more than people - as he says: “It’s their ingenuity and honesty that can’t leave you indifferent, and so hard to find in humans”. Outside of work Juan has fun time playing soccer and boxing. His dream is to visit all historical places of World War II. Juan lives in Tamarac, Broward County.

Fort Lauderdale Veterinary ClinicGina Doyle, Veterinary Technician

Having always felt affinity for animals, Gina initially has been working in a local vaccination clinic in 2011. While working there she got to know about opening in Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac. She joined our team in September 2014 and has special interest in veterinary treatment and preventive care. Being a compassionate person by nature she can’t stand seeing a suffering pet without a home. That’s how she met Ruby - skinny and malnourished on the street. It was a hard time when Ruby was diagnosed with bone cancer in December 2013. Nevertheless, with the help of veterinarians and good care Ruby has her jaw removed and now she is enjoying a happy and healthy life with the rest of her family. Gina lives in Pompano Beach, South Florida, with her boyfriend Robert, dogs – Ruby and Lola, and two feline companions. Outside of work, Gina participates in cross-fit competitions, and occasionally takes part in 5K Charity Runs. As she shares, “seeing people taking care of their babies, and understand that veterinary matters” is what Gina likes the most about her job.

Hensley Rita, Veterinary Technician

fort lauderdale animal hospitalRaised in Fort Lauderdale, Rita joined the team of Animal Wellness Clinic of Tamarac in June 2015. After graduating high school, she served in the Army and continued to serve as a federal contractor supporting the government 11 years. In 2013, she moved from Washington DC to South Florida to be closer to her family. Rita always had a passion for caring about animals but never dared to dream to make her passion a new career. But things happen for a reason. Her GI bill paid for her school. She graduated from Sanford Brown College with a Veterinary Technology degree and started her career path. Rita is married to a wonderful husband Brandon, whom she met in the military and has two adorable rescued dogs named Davey and Lyla. Rita believes that if you do something you love, you won’t work a day of your life. Rita loves going to the beach, especially to the Keys, family outings, and playing with her dogs.
